How to get the University of Edinburgh ID card?

The University of Edinburgh Card is extremely useful, as it allows you to access many benefits, such as the possibility to enter the university’s buildings, library access, charging and using your Upay account and additional bonuses offered by student cards. The entire process of application for the University of Edinburgh Card can be done online by submitting a passport-style photo to the “Card Photo Submission” channel that can be found in the tab “Accounts” of the MyEd platform. However, the photo you submit has to follow some important requirements in order to be accepted. You can also submit a physical photo. Photo requirements for the University of Edinburgh Card

• the photo should have well lighting and show your head and shoulders
• just as a passport photo, the University of Edinburgh Card photo should be recent (taken not more than 6 months ago)
• the background should be plain and preferably of a light colour
• the photo should be of you only, without other people or pets on it
• you should be facing forwards and looking at the camera
• photos from holidays, as well as photos in sunglasses and with hats will be rejected
• the photo format should be .JPG, the file having a size less than 500 KB
• the dimensions of the digital picture should be 531px high x 413 px wide and 45mm high x 35 mm wide (1.77’’x1,38’’)

Replacement cards

You can replace your University of Edinburgh Card at the Card Help Desk in case it was lost, stolen or expired. An expired card will not be automatically replaced so take that into consideration. You have to visit the Card Help Desk to issue a new card and transfer the money from your old card. This will cost you £10 if you did not apply for a new card at the time it needed to be replaced. If you have changed your appearance, you can apply for the change of photograph but bear in mind that it has to be done before you visit the Card Help Desk. Distance learners who want their card to be replaced have to contact the IS Helpline.
