Who needs a Myanmar visa?

Before traveling to Myanmar, residents of most countries must apply for a visa. There are some states, nevertheless, which are qualified for a Myanmar visa through a simpler procedure, either online through the official website or upon arrival.

The countries below are exempt from a Myanmar visa if they are traveling for tourism and can remain in the country for up to 30 days:

If you have been granted a passport for diplomatic services from the countries below then you do not need a visa to travel to Myanmar:

Myanmar visa types

The Myanmar visa types are:

  • Tourist visa to Myanmar – granted to foreigners who wish to travel to Myanmar for purposes of tourism
  • Myanmar business visa – granted to foreigners who wish to attend business meetings or conferences in Myanmar
  • Social visa of Myanmar – granted to former Myanmar citizens who still have family relationships in the country
  • Myanmar work visa – granted to foreigners who wish to work in Myanmar
  • Crew member visa – granted to people who are traveling as a crew to participate in an event
  • Myanmar transit visa – granted to people who want to transit to another country

Myanmar visa requirements

Certain documentation will be required in order to apply for a Myanmar visa.

Such documents include:

  • Visa fee payment

For a business visa:

  • Recommendation letter

  • Check whether you need to schedule an appointment or not
  • Gather every document that is required for the application and submit them
  • Wait for the visa procedure to finish
  • If your visa has been authorized you can go in person to collect it or it may be sent to you via email and you can print it, depending on how you applied
