The photo requirements for a French visa photo include a passport-style photo with:
The visa photo for France must be printed on high-quality photo paper, be taken within the last six months and follow specific guidelines. The visa photo should be in colour.
The French visa photo must be 35×45 mm in size. The applicant's face must occupy 70-80% of the photo and be 32 to 36 mm high, measured from chin to forehead.
The background must be plain, uniform, and light-coloured. Ideally, the background should be light grey or light blue. There must be no patterns, shadows, or objects in the background.
In addition, the photo should not be over- or underexposed and must be properly contrasted, with no shadows on the face or in the background. White is not permitted as a background colour.
Everyday clothing like t-shirts, collared shirts or simple blouses is acceptable for French visa photos. Avoid wearing tops showing your shoulders like tank tops, tube tops and halter tops.
Military clothing and uniforms are not permitted in French visa photos.
Glasses are permitted in visa photos for France, as long as they do not obscure the eyes. Reflections, glare and thick frames obscuring the eyes should, however, be avoided in the photo.
Sunglasses and tinted or coloured glasses can only be worn for medical reasons.
Head coverings like hats, scarves, and caps are only allowed for religious reasons in French visa photos. If you do wear a head covering for religious reasons, make sure your face is entirely visible from your chin to the top of your head and that the head covering does not cast any shadows on your face or on the background.
You need to submit a recent photo for your visa application. The photo must be taken within the last six months.
