Bus pass photo requirements

Your passport style photo will be a part of your bus pass and help to identify you in case of control. That’s why the picture must satisfy certain requirements and why unsuitable photos will not be accepted.

A required photo for bus pass  must be in color, clear and focused, taken within the last 6 months, with the head and shoulders visible. It is a passport style photograph, so close-up view is a requirement.

In your photo you must:

• be facing forwards and looking straight at the camera
• have your eyes open and your mouth closed
• have a neutral face expression
• not have hair covering your eyes
• not have a fashion head covering (you can wear it only for religious or medical reasons)
• not have anything covering your face
• not have any shadows on your face or behind you

The photo must:

• be taken within last 6 months
• be free of any objects and other people
• have a plain, light-colored background
• be in contrast to the background
• represent natural colors and skin tone

You may have a beard on your bus pass photo and also piercing and jewellery if those objects do not obscure your face.

Eyeglasses in a bus pass picture

You must not wear sunglasses or tinted glasses in your bus pass photo. You can wear your everyday glasses if you need to, but your eyes must be visible. A photo with glare or reflection is not suitable.

Accessories in a bus pass picture

You are not allowed to wear accessories such as sunglasses on your head, big hair accessories, wireless head-phones and other similar objects in your bus pass photo. A hearing device if you wear it, is allowed.

Where to take a bus pass photo?

You can visit one of the validating libraries which will provide you with photo service. But this is not necessary and you can take a bus pass photo on your own. Please remember that if the photo is not suitable, you will be requested to provide another one and the time of processing your bus pass application will be longer.
