Important: Whether you’re a Danish citizen or a foreign national, you must attach one picture with/to your application form.

The finer details of Denmark passport photos
Meeting the technical requirements of your passport pictures isn’t enough—all biometric images must also follow additional guidelines. Here’s what to pay attention to when preparing to take your ID photo:
- Facial expression: Neutral or with a gentle smile (mouth closed)
- Eyes: Open, looking directly at the camera
- Glasses: Only non-tinted. Generally allowed—however, ensure the frames are not too thick and don’t cover your eyes. Make sure your glasses don’t produce glare or reflections
- Headgear: Allowed only for religious reasons—however, it can’t obscure any facial features
- Attire: No light clothes to avoid blending with the background
- Head position: Centered and straight
Danish visa photo requirements
Are you a passport-holder from one of the countries that need a visa to enter Denmark? Worry not—
You’ll simply need to apply for a Schengen visa, allowing you to visit a number of EU countries, including Denmark.
In a nutshell, EU visa photo requirements are nearly identical to those we discussed previously. The only two differences are:
- Background: Light grey is preferred
- Photo: Must be in color
- Pictures needed: Two photos
Note #2: Check out our guide on Schengen visa photos for more detailed instructions on EU visa pictures.
