Excellent service. Very good software that enhanced our photos. They also did a manual check and had me redo one of the pictures for free. I have only used online passport photos for more than 10 years. This is by far the best.

Argentinian Passport Photo Guidelines

Take the right photo for your Argentinian passport at home! Upload a picture to our service and get it professionally edited by a photo tool.

Argentine Passport Photo – take it by smartphone!

Do you know that you can take your photo of the Argentinian Passport everywhere? At your place, on the street, in the park, etc. This is because there are no requirements for taking the passport photo professionally. So, it is good news, because you do not need to go and overpay to a professional photographer for something you can do on your own. Instead, you can ask somebody or use a tripod (keep in mind, that selfies are not allowed) and in a couple of moments create a perfect passport-style picture. Of course, that photo must meet certain requirements, so you will need some little help. But don’t worry, we will assist you in this undertaking!

Argentinian Passport – style photo and the best photo maker online

If you are not sure how to crop and resize a picture and you are not keen on graphic programs, why not take a look at our automatically cropping and resizing the Argentina Passport photo app?

In a couple of seconds, you will get your perfect passport-size photo ready to attach to your application form!

This photo tool is available online, easy to use, and cheap. How is it possible? It is because this App is based on Artificial Intelligence that does all the job, so we can offer you really good prices! With us, you pay only for correct photos and they have a guarantee of acceptance by the passport office or consular services if you apply abroad.

Argentinian Passport Photo – Size and Crop

Size and crop of passport-style photography is a very important requirement and you must not attach an incorrectly sized or cropped photo if you do not want to repeat all the application process.

The demanded dimensions for a passport photo in the Argentine Republic are 40 mm x 40 mm. Leave at least 5 mm of space between the top of the head and the upper edge of the photo. The head must be positioned in a central spot of the image. It cannot be too big or too small, preferably 70% of the whole image. You do not know how to obtain such a crop? That is easy! Go to the PhotoAiD App and have it done! Once you upload the picture, our program automatically resizes and crops the image to the required dimensions.

Argentina Passport Photo Validity (Recency)

Maybe you already have passport photos and ask yourself whether you can use them for your new passport application or not. The answer is easy: you can do it only if your photo has been taken in the last 6 months.

If it is older, you are obliged to take another one as the biometric passport picture must reflect your current appearance.

But the good news is that once you get a passport-style photo with our Argentinian Passport Photo Maker you may use it as many times as you want during the next 6 months. Maybe you want to apply for the ID card together with your passport? Or do you need a visa to another country? After ordering a photo template on our website, you will receive it in your email in JPEG format. You can upload it to different online applications or print it if it is mandatory (in the case of passport photos – it is).

Argentine Passport Photo Requirements (Specs)

In order to successfully complete your passport application in Argentina, you have to submit 2 printed, colour photos taken within the last 6 months. But this is not all. These photos must be identical, sized 40 mm x 40 mm and meet some requirements.

What are they? Read the article below to learn about:

  • what color and style must be the background
  • how you have to pose
  • what head covering is allowed or forbidden in the picture
  • if you can wear eyeglasses, piercing, etc. in the moment of taking a photo
  • how to easily get a correct size and crop
  • how to quickly verify if the photo matches all rules
  • how to save money and time preparing the perfect photo for your Argentinian biometric passport

Color and style of the background in Argentinian Passport Photos

Your photos dedicated to the Argentinian passport must be taken against a white background. Moreover, the background must be unique and clear: no shadows, patterns, other people, or objects must be visible with you. But you do not need to worry about it. You can take a picture against any background, even in your room or kitchen, and just use our smart passport photo background editor which changes the wrong background into the required one.

Perfect lighting in the Argentine passport picture

Remember that the biometric photo is supposed to show your natural skin tones and the real color of your eyes. Check also if it is not overlit or underlit. How to produce a correctly exposed photo showing natural colors? The best tip is to use daylight. Don’t use a flash lamp because flash might provoke the “red-eyes” effect which is unacceptable (red is not the natural eye color, right?). Moreover, your face must be evenly illuminated on both sides. Shadows on the part of the face disqualify the picture.

Smile and pose in the Argentinian passport photo

There are some universal rules about composition and head position for biometric photos. Take a look at how are them:

  1. The head must be located in the central spot of the picture;
  2. The head must not be tilted in any direction, shoulders must not be twisted;
  3. The mouth must be closed but not tightened;
  4. Don’t smile!
  5. The candidate must look straight at the camera with both eyes open;
  6. The en-face view is mandatory.

Argentina passport photos – head coverings

Wearing a headgear in biometric photos is not allowed but there are some exemptions.

If a hijab, headscarf, yarmulke, or other head covering is a part of your religious or traditional (cultural) attire and you wear it every day, you can keep it while capturing a photo for your Argentinian Passport. You are not obliged to prove your religious belongingness in such a case.

Just remember that your full facial features must be visible in the picture. Headscarves or other headgear must not obscure your cafe or cast a shadow on it.

When it comes to fashion head covering like hats, caps, bands, etc. – they are all forbidden in the official document photos – this is a general rule. All massive hair accessories, such as ribbons or bandanas must be taken off too as they may obscure your face oval.

Glasses in the Argentine passport picture

The first rule about glasses in formal documentaries is that they must be transparent. Sunglasses and tinted glasses are always forbidden.

So, if you wear eyeglasses every day, you may keep them while capturing a photo for an Argentinian passport but it is not recommended as their frames may obscure your eyes or drop shadows on your face. Remember too, that any glares on glasses disqualify a photo. So, if there is no necessity to keep your glasses on, consider taking them out just to avoid the photo rejection.

Facial piercing and jewellery in the Passport Photo

Jewellery (also facial piercing) in formal photos is allowed as long as these items do not obscure face features. For this reason, huge earrings that “touch” the facial oval cannot be worn but small pieces of jewellery are accepted. The same rule applies to facial piercing – you do not need to remove it if you wear it permanently and if it does not cover your features and the piercing does not give a glare on your skin. There are no rules about necklaces or chains – if you like massive ones, there will not be a problem.

Hairstyle and beard in the Argentinian passport photo

There are no special rules about hairstyles in passport photos in Argentina. Just bear in mind that the hair must not cover your face, so if you have long hair and you wear it loose, put it behind your ears. If you have a voluminous hairstyle, wear your hair up. Remember about the spare space that must be left between the crown and the top edge of the photo. You are not asked to shave your beard for an Argentina passport photo.

Argentinian Passport Photo Rules – all in one place

You might feel overwhelmed by all these requirements, rules and information but don’t worry! This is really very easy to produce a correct photo of your Argentinian passport. We gathered all the important information in one place. Take a look at the list of MUSTS and have your photo done quickly and without effort.

Just remember that in your photo you must:

  • be facing forwards and looking straight at the camera
  • have your eyes open and your mouth closed
  • have a neutral face expression
  • not have hair covering your eyes
  • not have a fashion head covering (you can wear it only for religious/cultural or medical reasons)
  • not have anything covering your face (the beard is allowed)
  • not have any shadows on your face or behind you

The photo must:

  • be taken within last 6 months
  • be free of any objects and other people
  • have a plain, white background
  • be well contrasted
  • represent natural colors and skin tones
  • well-focused and cropped
  • not digitally altered in any way (do not use Photoshop nor filters)
  • in the min. resolution of 600 dpi (digital picture ready to print)
  • produced using dye-sublimation printing (not with the inkjet printer)

Don’t make a mistake! The fatal errors in Argentinian passport photos people make

The requirements for Argentine passport photos are very strict. If your photo does not satisfy these requirements, it will be rejected during the process of application. So, check twice and make sure that you avoid the errors that people, unfortunately, make every day.

Take a look at the most common mistakes committed during capturing photos and avoid them!

  1. Wrong size of the photo
  2. Wrong crop – head too big or too small
  3. Smile and making grimaces in the picture
  4. Non-en-face view
  5. Tilted head
  6. Sight directed aside, not at the camera lens
  7. Face obscured by the head covering or hair

About the document

Passport of the Argentine Republic

In Argentina, the institution authorized to issue passports to its citizens is the National Registry for People (ReNaPer). Previously passports were issued by the Argentine Federal Police (up to 2011).

Argentinians can travel holding their passports all over the world, but they need visas to some countries. They can visit every country of South America except the Guyanas only with their National Identity Document (DNI) – no passport for Argentinians is needed here.

Biometric passports

According to international law, Argentine passports are biometric (machine-readable with the electronic chip containing the personal data and biodata of its holder).

As with every other biometric passport, the Argentine one has the e-passport symbol at the bottom.

It contains a data page with a machine-readable zone and a digital photograph of the passport holder. All the information is written in 2 languages: Spanish and English. The information written in the passport is:

  • Photograph
  • Type of document (P for Passport)
  • Country code (ARG)
  • Passport number
  • Surname
  • Given names
  • Nationality
  • Date of Birth
  • DNI number
  • Gender
  • Place of Birth (Province and country code)
  • Issuing date
  • Expiration date
  • Signature
  • Fingerprint

Argentine passport application

If you want to apply for an Argentinian passport

In order to get an Argentine passport, you need to go to the nearest Civil Registry and show the following documents:

  • National Identity Document
  • birth certificate
  • 2 passport-style photos meeting the requirements
  • a proof of marital status (unless you are single)

The proof of the marital status can be a marriage certificate, or marriage certificate with the divorce sentence written out in the margin, or a death certificate, issued by the Argentine relevant authorities.

If you are an Argentine citizen by naturalisation rather than by birth, you must also submit a Citizenship Certificate (Carta de ciudadanía). Children under the age of 18 cannot apply in their name – they may get a passport with parental authorization.

If you live outside Argentina, you have to apply for your passport in the nearest consular mission (embassy or consulate-general) of Argentina, but the procedure of application remains the same.

Once you submit all the documents, you must also pay the passport fee. Then, your application will be processed and you will receive your passport via postal mail within 15 days (usually).
