Excellent service. Very good software that enhanced our photos. They also did a manual check and had me redo one of the pictures for free. I have only used online passport photos for more than 10 years. This is by far the best.
Take a picture for your Brazilian passport with your smartphone. Be confident that it meets all the legal requirements. Do not overpay, and save valuable time!
When you apply for a Brazilian passport, you have to attach two (2) printed color photographs to the application. The Brazilian passport photo must be a recent photo, which means it cannot be taken earlier than six (6) months before you send in your application.
There are a few different permissible sizes. The most popular Brazil passport photo size is 3,5 cm x 4,5 cm. You can also use photos size 5 cm x 7 cm and 5 cm x 5 cm. All these dimensions are allowed, and you may produce your passport photo in any one of these sizes. We suggest you get your picture automatically sized to the most popular size (35 mm x 45 mm) using a smart passport photo resizing app. Once you upload your photo to this App, your picture will be resized in one second and you can be sure that your application will not be rejected because of your picture.
The photo for your Brazilian passport must meet certain requirements in terms of quality. The image must be properly exposed: overexposed and underexposed pictures are not acceptable. The same rule applies to the contrast and saturation levels: too high or too low will disqualify your picture.
Your face should be evenly lit. The picture must show your natural skin tones and the real color of your eyes. Be careful when using the flash on your camera, because the flash can cause the “red eye” effect which will disqualify the picture.
The picture must be printed on photo-quality paper, not with an inkjet printer. It must be printed in natural color; filters and effects are not allowed. It cannot be blurred or damaged. Any defects, marks, stamps or other patterns on the image will disqualify the photo. Selfies are not allowed.
In a nutshell, your picture for your Brazilian passport must be:
The Brazilian passport photo must show the candidate’s full face and hair, from the tip of the chin to the top of the head; the image must also include the candidates’ full neck, and the upper part of shoulders must be visible. Your face needs to be clearly visible: your hair must not obscure any part of your face below the line of the eyebrows. Moreover, make sure that there is space left between the top of your head and the upper edge of the photo. If you have voluminous hair, consider pulling it back.
The photo must be taken directly in front of the applicant, with the applicant’s head and torso directly facing the camera (the en-face view). Your head must be centered and your eyes must be looking directly into the camera. Photos with closed eyes, tilted heads, dramatic lighting and exaggerated facial expression will be rejected.
You need to know the requirements regarding facial expression in the Brazilian passport photo because if you pose the wrong way, your photo will be rejected. A neutral facial expression is mandatory. Do not smile or frown. Don’t even blink! Keep your eyes open — but not in a wild, crazy stare. Just relax your face and don’t blink for a while.
When you are posing, make sure that you:
The background in the Brazilian passport photo must be white only. Specifically, it must be a plain and uniform white, with no patterns or shadows. There can be no objects or other people visible in the background. To get good contrast and not blend into the background, do not wear a white top for the picture.
To get a perfect background in your Brazilian passport picture, upload your photo to the Passport Photo Maker and wait one or two seconds. This tool instantly changes your existing background into the perfect plain white background!
If you wear prescription eyeglasses, you may keep them on in the photo. Check with our passport photo validator to see if your photo is suitable: the lenses cannot have glare obscuring your eyes, and the frames cannot cast shadows on your face. Sunglasses and tinted lenses are not allowed at all. Our tool will inform you whether your image meets the requirements for glasses; if it doesn’t, simply take and create another photo for free.
Generally speaking, head coverings such as hats, caps and scarves are not allowed. If you wear a head covering every day for cultural or religious reasons, such as hijabs, turbans and yarmulkes, you may keep it on for your passport photo but make sure that it does not obscure your face. Your facial features have to be clearly visible.
What’s about accessories and jewelry in the Brazil passport photo? Jewelry and piercings are allowed to be worn in Brazilian passport photos. Big hair accessories like ribbons and bows are forbidden, as are handheld accessories such as purses and pets. Also, you can’t tuck your sunglasses into your hairdo.

The Federative Republic of Brazil (República Federativa do Brasil) is the largest country in both Americas with over 211 millions of inhabitants. Every Brazilian citizen can apply for a passport of their homeland and it is issued by the federal government, through the Federal Police. All the information in the Brazilian passport is written in Portuguese and English.
Since 2015 Brazilian passports are biometric - it means that as such documents they satisfy the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards about the encrypted data and biodata. The Brazilian travelling document has a data page with a machine-readable zone and a biometric photograph of the passport holder. The Brazilian passport is valid for 10 years.
Besides the biometric photo of the passport’s holder, the info page contains the following data:
The bearer's signature is placed on the third page. This is why a personal meeting is necessary during the process of application for a passport. The holder must sign a dedicated form in order to transfer his/her signature to the passport’s page.
Nowadays, you are able to make all your Brazilian passport applications via the Internet - just log on to the Federal Police Department's Website. You have to download, fill in and print the online form as well as print bank confirmation of paying the passport fee.
Once you do this, you are asked to make an appointment, you can do it online too. Keep in mind that you must have the appointment scheduled, otherwise, the officer can refuse you to accept your application.
Then, all you need to do is to go to the chosen Federal Police post and present all necessary documents. There is the basic list of documents:
You must be present at the spot twice - for applying for and collecting the passport. If you apply for a passport for your minor-dependent child, you must be present with them at the meeting and pick up the document in person too.
The passport application process takes up to 6 working days.
