Singapore visa photo size and colors

A required Singapore visa photo size is 45 mm X 35mm in size (height x width). Your face size must be 80% of the photograph. 

Only photos in color will be accepted as the picture must represent your natural skin tones and eye color. Also for this reason the effect of “red eyes” will cause a rejection of the picture. Remember, that you must not retouche it as any interference in the picture is also forbidden. “Red eyes” effect appears when a photo is taken with a flash, so in order to avoid it, take the picture with natural light (daily light is highly recommended). You may not either wear coloured contact lenses.

If you are wearing a head covering for religious or medical reasons, it should be dark in color against white background.

Digital photo format and dimensions for Singapore Visa

The required dimension for a digital Singaporean visa is 35 x 45 mm. In inches this is 1,38’’ x 1,7’’ photo.

There are also some technical photo requirements for a digital Singapore visa photo:       

• Format: jpg file extension
• Size: maximum of 60 KB

Notice that the photo 35x45 mm and size approximately 60 KB (but no more) has a resolution 827 x 1063 pixeles. You cannot interfere in the picture with any computer software.

Singapore visa photo specification

A Singapore visa application photo must be taken within the 3 last months as it must represent your current appearance. Make sure that it is clear, focused and not pixelated.

In the photo you must:

• have your head straight, not tilted
• look straightly at the camera
• have a neutral face expression
• keep your both eyes open and mouths closed

You must not wear sunglasses or tinted glasses in your Singapore visa picture. It is highly recommended to take off your everyday eyeglasses. If you want to keep them, you can, but make sure that they do not give a glare or do not cover your eyes. Your eyes and pupils must be clearly visible.

Singapore visa photo requirements in terms of originality

It is underlined that your Singapore visa photo must be original. It means that it cannot be:

• cut off from a bigger image
• distorted or flipped
• pixelated
• altered using computer software or computer app
• unnaturally colored

Of course you can take your visa photo with your smartphone, just do not use any filters or beautifying apps. Use of Photoshop and other graphic processing programs is not allowed.

What is not allowed in a Singapore visa photo?

You photo must not be:

• taken more 3 months earlier

• be a selfie as selfies usually are not correct and are rejected

In terms of your look and composition in the picture you must not:

• tilt your head
• position your head not centrally
• look sideway
• have your eyes closed
• have your mounts open
• smile or make faces
• have sunglasses or tinted glasses
• have everyday glasses which cover your eyes or give a glare
• have a head gear (the exceptions are religious and medical reasons)

Children and Baby Singapore Visa Photo

Every person entering Singapore must present a visa crossing the border. It also applies to babies and children, so if you travel with them, you need to submit a photo for them too. General requirements for a child’s visa photo remain the same as for adults, so make sure that in the picture:

• the baby or child is facing forward
• you are not visible, even if you hold a child
• any other objects as toys, bottles etc. are not visible
• the background is plain and white
