Excellent service. Very good software that enhanced our photos. They also did a manual check and had me redo one of the pictures for free. I have only used online passport photos for more than 10 years. This is by far the best.

UAE visa photo specifications

There are specific guidelines for the UAE or Dubai visa photo you should meet if you decide to start the process of applying for a UAE visa.

Remember, if something went wrong don’t edit it by removing any birthmarks, scars, tattoos or even red-eye. Use a photo editor on the Passport Photo Online site instead. Our service will find the perfect dimensions and edit your photo for the national law photo requirements.

Background

Before starting to take photos for your UAE visa, you should prepare the right background unless you will try the photo tool available on the Passport Photo Online website or use it straight from the app. It works the way that cuts your picture to the size you need and even changes the background to make it the right colour.

However, it is important to know the rules for the background, positioning and quality of your UAE visa photo:

  • The background has to be white, without any patterns
  • The picture should be in colour, black and white ones are rejected
  • You must be in the centre of the photo and your face should take up 70% - 80% of the picture
  • Your head, hair, ears, and shoulders have to be in the picture
  • The picture should be of good quality - make sure the picture is clear and sharp without any flares or shadows, over-or under-exposure, or glare
  • The picture must show your real skin tone

The paper of printing should be in good quality as well as the photo and there cannot be any creases or staple marks.

Facial expression

  • You must have a neutral facial expression
  • Your mouth has to be closed
  • You must have eyes open and clearly visible
  • You have to stare at the camera lens
  • Your head must be straight, not be tilted

What to wear

  • The clothes you wear should be darker from the background that you stand out
  • You can wear eyeglasses if you must but they cannot obscure your eyes and eyebrows. Make sure there is no glare on the glass or reflection on them. Sunglasses are not permitted.
  • You can only wear headgear for religious purposes but be sure that your head-covering does not cover your face because the forehead, chin, and other facial features should be visible. Hats, headbands, and accessories are not allowed.

UAE visa photo requirements for babies and young children

Nowadays, even infants and babies have to submit a visa photo so is good to meet the requirements children have to do:

  • The child should have as much as possible neutral facial expression and look straight at the camera.
  • The child should be alone in the picture, the parent can’t hold them, none of someone else's body parts can be visible, even hands. If the child cannot support himself/herself, the picture should be taken from above as they are lying down.
  • Toys or dummies aren’t allowed as well.

Dubai visa photo size

The size of the required pictures for your Dubai visa application is the same as with the other emirates in the UAE and is 43 mm x 55 mm (or alternatively 2 x 2 inches). For an electronic copy of the picture, it should be 300 pixels in width and 369 pixels in height.

Is it safe to go to Dubai?

For some countries, the process to get a UAE visa is simple and for free. You don’t have to book an appointment or fill any forms because you just get the stamp on your passport at the airport. But it also depends from where and to where you go because Dubai is known for being a touristic city, which partly lives from tourism now, but other Arabic cities might not be as accommodating, especially for a lonely European woman travelling to Emirates as the culture requires certain behaviours and can be confusing for some European citizens.

You have to meet the culture and how they behave, for instance, in Ramadan. It is good to know something about a country before travelling there, especially if it is a different continent.

However, Dubai is safe to visit as it has heavy monitoring and violent crimes happen there very rarely though, Dubai is extremely strict so illegal there is a public affection (especially between unmarried or homosexual partners), dressing immodestly, drunken behaviours, swearing or making rude gestures and more.

How to take a UAE visa photo at home?

While you had read all the guidelines you might wonder how to take the UEA photo at home. Here is the guide for you:

  • The photo should have the front view of your face
  • Everything from your hair and forehead to your chin should be visible
  • The face should be in the centre of the photo so that both ears are possible to see
  • You should keep a neutral expression on your face (not smile, grin or raise eyebrows)
  • Try to show your eyes that your hairs do not cover them
  • You should not edit the photograph in any way, instead, you can use a photo editor on the Passport Photo Online site
  • Damaged photos (marked, creased or torn) would not be accepted
  • When you take the right photo do not sign it
